At Phoenix Business Publishing we have something new to show and tell about “the new, real-world” federal prison system in today’s America. This site is not about academic theories, although it entails a repository of leading academic books and peer-reviewed studies on the federal prison system. Instead, this site is based on our collective experiences as prisoners and former employees of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP). Phoenix Business Publishing was conceived by Michael W. McCoy, former Chairman and CEO of a leading West Coast finance and consulting consortium formerly based in California. To date, Mr. McCoy is the consulting editor for works acquired by Phoenix Business Publishing. Phoenix Business Publishing is owned and financed by The Phoenix Trust, and is an alliance of former attorneys, Wall Street executives, real estate and oil field developers, engineers, and corporate CEO’s—all of whom were (and some who still are) in federal prison for White Collar offenses. Many of the authors featured by Phoenix Business Publishing are men and women with terms of imprisonment that ranged from 18 months (or the lowest-security prison-camp level) to 25 years (or the high-security prison level). Along the way we have developed a keen insight and a thorough working knowledge of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) including its written and unwritten policies, procedures, and politics—at all four security levels. And because we are business executives (yes, some of us still have business, professional, and publishing interests) and former lawyers—and now former prisoners—we possess a uniquely objective perspective of how the system works both for and against its inmate population and society as a whole. Yes, we have something new to show and tell. With 1-in-100 Americans incarcerated, the time has come for you to learn all about federal prisons in America.
